FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
01
How do I book for eyelash extensions services?
To book your appointment, simply fill out the Eyelash Extension Consent Form on our website. Once the form is submitted, you’ll receive a follow-up with booking availability and next steps. This helps us ensure your appointment is customized to your needs and preferences.
02
Do you offer a patch test before appointments?
If this is your first time getting eyelash extensions with me, you have the option to schedule a patch test before your appointment. This is especially important if you have sensitive eyes or a history of reactions to adhesives. What is a Patch Test? A patch test helps ensure you won’t have a reaction to the adhesive used for your lash extensions. It must be scheduled at least 48 hours before your appointment. I will apply two lash extensions to the outer corner of each eye. The process takes about 10 minutes, and you'll be asked to monitor for any irritation or sensitivity over the next 24–48 hours. If you would like to schedule a patch test, please contact me directly to book this quick pre-appointment check.
03
How should I prepare before my lash extension appointment?
Please come to your appointment with clean lashes and no makeup around your eyes. Remove all eye makeup, including mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. Avoid using oily skincare products or creams near the eye area. Clean lashes help ensure the best bond between your natural lashes and the extensions—leading to better retention and a smoother application.
04
Do I need to fill out any forms before my lash appointment?
Please arrive a few minutes early to complete your Lash Extension Consent Form. This form ensures I have your up-to-date information and permission to provide your lash service safely and effectively. Your comfort and care are always my top priority.
05
What should I do after my lash extension appointment?
Aftercare: First 24–48 Hours Proper aftercare is key to keeping your lash extensions looking full and lasting longer. Here's what to keep in mind: Clean your face gently, avoiding splashing large amounts of water directly onto your eyes or lashes. After the first 24 hours, begin cleansing your lashes daily using a gentle, oil-free cleanser to prevent bacteria buildup and reduce the risk of blepharitis. Avoid water, steam, and heat for 24–48 hours: No swimming No hot tubs or saunas No direct exposure to steam (showers, facials, etc.) Caring for your lashes properly in the first two days will help protect your investment and extend the life of your extensions.
06
What style of lash extensions can I choose from?
Every lash set is fully customized to enhance your natural features and reflect your personal style. We’ll go over your preferences during your appointment to create the perfect look for your eye shape and lifestyle. Feel free to bring photos or inspo, too! Here are the lash extension styles I currently offer: Classic Set Natural and timeless — one extension is applied to each natural lash for subtle length and definition. Blended Set (Hybrid) A soft, fuller look — this mix of Classic and Volume lashes creates balanced dimension and a slightly fluffier finish. Volume Set Full and dramatic — lightweight, handmade fans (2–6 lashes per fan) are applied to each natural lash for a bold, voluminous effect. All lash fans are handmade during your appointment using soft, lightweight synthetic fibers, and customized with varying lengths, curls, and densities to suit you.
07
What kind of glue do you use for lash extensions?
I use a medical-grade, formaldehyde-free adhesive that’s designed for both safety and strong, long-lasting retention. The glue contains Ethyl 3-Cyanoacrylate, a compound also used in the medical field for suture-free wound closure, which speaks to its reliability and strength. For clients with sensitive eyes or known adhesive sensitivities, special sensitive-formula glues are available by request. If this applies to you, please let me know in advance so I can have the right product ready for your appointment.
08
What are eyelash extensions, and what kind do you use?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic lashes that are individually applied to each of your natural lashes. They’re designed to enhance your natural beauty by adding length, fullness, and definition—giving you a soft, elegant look without the need for mascara. I use professional-grade, high-quality lash extensions that are lightweight, comfortable, and built to last. Each set is customized to your eye shape and style preferences using safe, salon-grade products that are selected for their performance and gentle feel. Your comfort, eye health, and lash retention are always top priorities.
09
How long does a lash extension appointment take?
A full set of lash extensions typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the style you choose. Classic sets are quicker to apply Volume and Blended sets take longer since each fan is handmade during your appointment For returning clients, lash fills usually take 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how much shedding or growth has occurred since your last visit. I always recommend planning a little extra time so you can relax and enjoy the experience!
10
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Eyelash extensions are attached directly to your natural lashes, so they shed gradually as part of your natural lash cycle. With proper care, your extensions can last 3 to 5 weeks. To help extend the life of your lashes: Avoid oil-based makeup and removers Skip waterproof eye products Avoid submerging your lashes in water or exposing them to steam for long periods Gently cleanse your lashes daily with an oil-free cleanser Regular lash fill appointments every 2–3 weeks are recommended to maintain a full, fresh look.
11
This might be a silly question... but does it hurt? Will it feel uncomfortable during the application?
Not silly at all—this is a very common question! The application process is not painful, but you may feel a little bit of initial discomfort, especially if it’s your first time. Here's what to expect: Your lower lashes are gently taped down to keep them out of the way, which can feel slightly unusual at first. Some clients experience mild sensitivity to the cleaning solution or adhesive fumes, which might cause light eye-watering. This usually settles within a few minutes. The application itself can tickle or feel funny as you get used to the sensation—but most clients find it relaxing (many even fall asleep!). Once the extensions are applied, they should feel light and natural—you shouldn’t feel any pain or irritation. If you do, please let me know right away so I can adjust anything needed.
12
Can I wear contacts during my lash appointment?
Yes, you can absolutely wear your contacts during your lash appointment! There’s no need to take them out unless you personally prefer to. Most clients have no issues wearing contacts or glasses with their lash extensions. Just a quick note: If you wear glasses, extremely long lash styles may occasionally brush against your lenses—but we can always customize the length to keep your lashes comfortable and functional for everyday wear.
13
Will my lash extensions be customized for me?
Yes! Every set of lashes is tailored to your unique eye shape, natural lash health, and desired look. You’re welcome to bring inspiration photos or share your vision with me, and we’ll create a custom style just for you—choosing the right length, curl, and volume to complement your features beautifully.
14
Are eyelash extensions safe for watery eyes and allergies?
In most cases, yes—lash extensions are generally safe for clients with watery eyes or mild allergies. In fact, some clients have noticed an improvement in irritation, since longer lashes can help block dust and debris from entering the eyes. However, for those with very sensitive eyes or known allergies, it’s possible to react to the adhesive used. If this is a concern, I recommend a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment, and we can also use a sensitive-formula glue designed to reduce the chance of irritation. Your comfort and safety are my priority—we’ll work together to find what’s best for you.
15
Can I go swimming or get my lash extensions wet?
Yes—but with a little care! For the first 24–48 hours after your appointment, avoid getting your lashes wet or exposing them to steam, pools, or hot tubs. This gives the adhesive time to fully cure and form a strong bond. After that, you can shower, swim, and enjoy life as usual! Just keep in mind: Chlorine and salt water may weaken the lash bond over time Excessive heat or steam (like saunas) can also affect retention Gently pat your lashes dry after water exposure and cleanse them regularly with an oil-free lash cleanser With proper care, you can enjoy your lashes and your lifestyle without worry!
16
What kind of training or certification do you have to apply eyelash extensions?
Licensing and certification requirements for eyelash extensions vary by state. In Minnesota, where I practice, I hold an active Cosmetologist License and a Salon Manager License. Additionally, I’ve received specialized training and certification in lash extensions through Avari Beauty, a respected leader in the industry. This education ensures I use safe techniques and the highest quality products to deliver beautiful, long-lasting results. Your safety and satisfaction are my top priorities!
17
Is there anyone who cannot or should not have eyelash extensions applied?
Eyelash extensions require a healthy base of natural lashes to adhere to, so if you don’t have enough natural lashes, extensions may not be possible. Extensions are generally not recommended for clients with conditions such as alopecia, those undergoing chemotherapy, or individuals with Trichotillomania, unless and until your natural lash growth has fully returned following treatment. Your safety and the health of your natural lashes are my top priorities. If you have any concerns about your eligibility, please reach out before booking, and we can discuss the best options for you.
18
Can I book a consultation before my first appointment?
Absolutely! If you’re unsure about the style or have questions about the process, I offer consultations to discuss your desired look and answer all your questions. This helps ensure you get lashes you love and feel comfortable with.
